Solanum lycopersicum

Minimum seed count: 20

Indeterminate

One of the tastiest tomatoes around, in my opinion.  Rich, sweet, smoky flavor with deep maroon flesh.  Exquisite on a BLT sandwich.

Originating in Tennessee, this beefsteak-type tomato was indeed grown by the Cherokee, but not until the 1890's, as tomatoes weren't introduced as a food crop to Eastern North America until the 1800's.  Productive, relatively short vines.
