Phaseolus vulgaris
Viola Bean is a semi-runner dry bean and is one of the most beautiful I've grown. White to light purple beans with darker purple along the top edges, held in pretty purple pods. Very productive, and its semi-runner habit means it can be grown in a small space. This bean originated with a gardener in Minnesota, and was released through the Seed Savers Exchange yearbook in 2004. Oh, and it's also tender and flavorful cooked up in soups or chilis!
