Solanum lycopersicum

The Mushroom Basket tomato is a rare variety that hails from Russia and boasts a beautiful, fluted shape that looks spectacular sliced on a platter (or on a BLT, where you only need one slice!) Fruits can reach a pound or more, and have dense, meaty flesh with few seeds. The flavor is sweet and rich, with less acid 'tang' than some other slicers. Mushroom basket can be a bit finicky if it doesn't like how the weather plays out over the growing season, but when it does well, it does very well, producing large numbers of flawless fruit over a long season.
