Solanum lycopersicum
If you're going to grow paste tomatoes, why not grow one that's fun? If you leave the Bowling Pin tomato on the vine until they're fully ripe, the fruits drop to the ground, and it really does look like someone got a strike! Discovered by Mennonite farmer James Weaver of Pennsylvania in his tomato field. Fruits are about six inches long and shaped like bowling pins, but are also flavorful, meaty and have few seeds. Makes an excellent sauce or paste.
