Solanum lycopersicum

What a peach of a tomato! Named for the Wapsipinicon river this heirloom from Iowa has a slightly fuzzy skin reminiscent of a peach. Pale yellow with the occasional rosy blush, this tomato has a sweet and fruity taste and a complex depth of flavor. Saladette sized 2" fruit grow abundantly on vigorous vines. One of the first tomatoes I grew here in New Hampshire and still one of my favorites. And in case you were wondering, Wapsipinicon is said to be the Ojibwe word for 'river abundant in swan potatoes' (aka duck potatoes, aka wapato).
