Nigella sativa
Minimum seed count: 100
Black Seed is also known as Black Cumin, Roman Coriander, Nutmeg Flower, Fennel Flower, Kalonji, or Nigella. With lacy foliage, blue flowers, and an inflated seed pod, this herb makes a beautiful addition to any garden. It's often hailed as a "cure-all" seed due to its high antioxidant properties and ability to aid digestion, boost immunity, and reduce inflammation. The seeds are commonly used in Middle Eastern, Indian, and Mediterranean cuisines, lending a unique peppery, slightly bitter flavor with hints of oregano and onion.
One of the most revered seeds in history, Nigella is referenced in the Old Testament, ancient Islamic and Greek literature, and found in Egyptian tombs.
Not to be confused with its cousin, Nigella damascena, 'Love-in-a-Mist' which looks similar but is not considered edible.
