A Bulgarian heirloom also known as Shipkas, this orange chili packs quite a bit of heat, but also a complex, fruity flavor that makes a great orange hot sauce.  The stocky plants grow just 18 inches tall are unbelievably productive, up to 50 peppers on a single plant in good growing conditions!  I have grown this variety for almost 20 years, and it never fails to gift me with peppers, even in bad years when all the other pepper plants fizzle out.
Seeds were reportedly smuggled to America from behind the Iron Curtain in the 1980's.
