Daucus carota
Minimum seed count: 200
Did you know that purple carrots are a much older type than orange? They tend to be 'hairier' since they are closer to the wild-type. This is a good thing, since the wild versions of our modern day produce tend to be more nutritious and medicinal. The hairs are easily rubbed off.
These dark purple beauties are rich in anthocyanins. which are super-foods for the good bacteria in your gut. Even the leaves have a purple tint! Carrots get sweeter as the weather cools, and are extra sweet after a frost or two, so don't despair if the first carrot you pull in the heat of August doesn't taste that great, just leave them in the ground and wait for cooler temperatures.
Black Nebula has a lower germination rate than other types, so plant seeds a little closer together.
