While many purple basil varieties aren't quite as fragrant as they could be, Amethyst is a true Genovese type with a classic sweet basil flavor.  Add leaves to salads or bruschetta for a pop of color, infuse some olive oil, or make a pretty purple pesto.  Enjoy the extra nutritious anthocyanins that give it its purple color too!  Beautifully ornamental in the garden.  Pinch back top leaves and remove flowers to encourage season-long production.
