Half-inch fruits are encased in a papery husk and fall to the ground when ripe. Tolerant to drought and cool temperatures once plants are established. Sweet and tangy tropical flavor, almost like pineapple. Stores well for weeks in the husk. Makes good pies and jams, and is included In the Slow Food Ark of Taste. High pectin content. Dip in chocolate using the husk as a handle for a special treat!
